other than through dialect and language, malaysia also be known as a country that has many types of dance culture. following are some cultural dances malaysia:

DANCE CULTURE IN MALAYSIA

1. Zapin

  • Zapin is a popular dance in the state of Johor.
  • Zapin word comes from Al-zaffan ie footwork.
  • According to history, this dance was originally a dance that brought entertainment in the palace of Hadramaut, Yemen South by Arab traders in the 13th century that aimed to use devotional chanting to spread knowledge about the history of Islamic civilization.
  • Now, zapin still presented in formal and informal occasions
2. Mak Nyong

  • Mak yong dance is a traditional Malay dance.
  • Created for entertainment relatives in King especially from the south of Thailand, this dance also combines romantic drama, dance and song which tells the captivating style golden age of Malay sultanate.

3. Sumazau

  • Sumazau dance is a folk dance usually performed during the Kadazan the religious events and community activities.
  •  It is presented as a sign of gratitude for the harvest, ward off evil spirits and to cure diseases.

4. Iban Dance

  • Dance of the Iban people are dancing while celebrating devices.
  • Dancers wearing traditional dances such as mesh, gagung, or bird shirts and hats decorated with feathers.

5. Ulek Mayang

  • Ulek Mayang is a Malay traditional dance originating from the state of Terengganu, Malaysia.
  • It is a dance of worship where a unique song sung to the accompaniment of an orchestra made up of Malay drums, gongs, violin and accordion.
  • There are many versions of the legend Ulek Mayang, according to one of them, this dance comes from the ancient ritual treatments performed by a shaman on a fisherman who was in an unconscious state, believed to have been hypnotized by a princess of the sea.
